What Is Lynchburg Rail Day?

Lynchburg Rail Day is an annual gathering of people interested in Railroads. People come together with interests in today's operating railroads, history of the railroads, model railroading in various scales (electric and live steam), or collecting railroad artifacts/memorabilia. Many of the people who come have long running interest in railroading while others are just starting to find out how fascinating the various rail hobbies can be. Some find items to buy from vendors who come from various cities and towns along the east coast. Others come to watch operating model rail exhibits. Others bring their children to operate (play) with floor trains. Others come to swap railroad stories. Some come to enter models or photographs in a public contest. Others enjoy talking with representatives from various rail historical societies, museums, or ongoing rail restorations. Others come to attend classroom visual presentations on various topics from railroad operations to modeling techniques. There are door prizes and refreshments to add to the festive experience.

The Lynchburg Rail Day now occurs the second Saturday in August at the Boonsboro Ruritan Club. Do not "google" to find the location, you will be misled. Please locate the map on this web site (click here).
